IMAGINEZ-VOUS A TRAVERS l’HISTOIRE UN LIEU OÙ TOUT SOIT CONSTRUIT POUR SE SERVİR DE l’EAU et QUI DEVRAIT DISPARAÎTRE à cause de l’EAU Un groupe d’archéologues jeunes mène un travail fiévreux depuis 1998, à 18 km nord-est de Pergame situé à l’Ouest de la Turquie. Grâce aux fouilles effectuées au centre du bassin du barrage de Yortanlı les centres thérapeutiques datés de 2000 ans sont mises à la lumière du jour: Allianoi avec ses stations thermales magnifiques, ses rues et ses ruelles, ses portes monumentaux, ses bâtiments décorés de péristyles, ses ponts, ses fontaines, ses magasins, son lieu de culte, son temple, son église, ses divers monuments architecturaux et avec son eau salubre... Le projet de barrage de Yortanlı en vue de l’irrigation menace Allianoi et les terres fertiles de Bakırçay, soit 670 hectares. Après la mise en service du barrage, la région irriguée actuellement en utilisant les puits d’artésiens ne sera productive que 40 ou 50 années seulement. Et, avec la réalisation du projet tous les vestiges historiques seront submergés ainsi que l’échosystème. Ce patrimoine culturel maintenu depuis des siècles va disparaître éternellement avant qu’on achève les travaux de recherches. Il paraît que, Allianoi antique datant de 1800 années rétablissant la santé avec de l’eau, sera submergé à notre ère de communication faute de communications. IMAGINE A HISTORIC SITE THAT WAS ESTABLISHED FOR WATER, AND THAT WILL BE DESTROYED FOR WATER… ALLIANOI A team of young archaeologists are carrying out excavations at a feverish pace at a site located eighteen kilometers northeast of Bergama, in western Turkey. Their work is uncovering an 1800 year-old health center that’s threatened with destruction because it is in the middle of a dam lake to be formed by Yortanli Dam. With its magnificent thermal baths, streets, monuments, peristylar structures and healing waters, this is Allianoi! The project that threatens Allianoi (and that will submerge 670 hectares of fertile lands in the Bakircay region) is an irrigation dam called Yortanli. For only forty or fifty years, the Yortanli Dam will provide water to irrigate the region that’s now irrigated with artesian wells. The dam project will destroy not only the archaeological remains of Allianoi, but also the ecological balance in the region. This cultural/historic heritage site will be submerged forever, without having been fully explored.
